Can anyone tell me how much is the cost of transportation in Malaysia (Public Transport & Taxi)?

I'm meeting my cousin in KL for a Holiday, Both of us haven't been to Malaysia. I'm coming from Singapore & she's coming from the Philippines. We're staying there for 3 nights & 3 days. Would it be worth it to just take cabs from one point to another while going to various states (Malacca, Pahang,Selangor,Negeri Sembilan) or can we get something like an EZ-Link card like what we have in Singapore? Please advise as our trip is already on May 1 and I need to do my budget. Thanks in advance....
