HOW? do we move from life-negative-equity, to life-positive-equity?

We seem as a species unable to crack the `Why` agreeaably, yet I am interested to know what are your theories and ideas on the `how` from hereon. Yes I know I know the two are inseparable, but aside from y, insulting,religious,ant-religious and racist suggestions I am asking for your suggestions, however humble or extravagant , as to how we get out of the mess we`ve made.Please extrapolate to your heart`s content.I am really interested, and stumped.
