Swimming during my period?

We have swimming cl on Thursday, and I'm on my period. I don't realy want to wear a tampon or moon cup, can I go swimming? It's my second time having my period. Sometimes it's light, sometimes it's not. If I changed into my suit, took a shower and sat down on the bleachers during rollcall and directions would there be blood all over my suit?
