Is it possible that the idea of Satan is but a mere control mechanism?

People are instilled with fear that Satan is going to get them if they disobey god. think about this: if you told someone that Satan would get them and that they would go to hell, could you not then say that going to heaven entails following gods rules when really these rules are not god's but the establishment's rules.....ta da everyone is afraid of hell and the devil and does whatever they're told. Also, as I said before, IF God is a complete totality and it is everything and everywhere this means that nothing can oppose it, because if it is already everything. So that opposing thing could not exist because it would also be god and opposing yourself makes no sense. so if the devil is god's adversary, opposing god, it cannot exist. I believe that both god and the devil are in the self. Look to love and compion and you find god. Embrace your own ego, selfishness and greed and you embrace the Satan part of yourself. So basically all there is is God, Satan is man's control mechanism.
