Any clue why my cat licks plastic?

I have a cat, she was a shelter rescue, and we are her only realy home (we adopted her and her sister when they were 3 months old). Her sister does not lick plastic, but Whiskers, she does. She's also the bigger cat of the two. We have several plastic shoebox style boxes, and she just starts licking them several times a day. Any clue why?
